10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Kevin Owens
7. Who He Named His Son After
In case you weren't aware already, one of Kevin Owens favourite wrestlers just so happens to be a star who has recently had a tournament created in honour of his name over in the Land of All Elite.
But with WWE not being in too much of a rush to shine a light on Owen Hart's legendary career, in part due to his tragic death at Over the Edge 1999 and due to his widow despising the idea of Hart being inducted into WWE's "garbage" Hall of Fame, a number of nods to the highly influential grappler often don't get the acknowledgement they deserve when it pertains to KO and his life away from the squared-circle.
On top of deciding to change his name to Owens from Steen on the back of WWE wanting to slightly rebrand the star after his independent days, the Canadian superstar also took to naming his son after the legendary Hart man.
Going further, Owens even admitted to having a few words with the fallen star as part of his pre-match ritual a few years back, saying:
"I’ll speak to Owen Hart; he was a big influence on me as a young wrestler, and when he passed, I felt a great sense of loss. Ever since then I just talk to Owen Hart before every match and I ask him to be with me and make sure I don’t get hurt."
