5. He Originally Pitched The Muhammad Hassan Character
Muhammad Hassan is one of the most notorious characters in WWE history. Just six short months after debuting on the main roster, WWE was forced to axe the character after the infamous 'terrorist' angle on Smackdown. Hassan was destroyed by The Undertaker at 2005 Great American Bash PPV, never to be seen again. Whilst languishing in the Raw midcard in a go-nowhere team with Tajiri (him again), Rhyno pitched a character not dissimilar to Hassan to the creative team. His idea was for his character to convert to Islam and became a sympathiser, growing a huge beard and changing his ring attire and so forth. Rhyno detailed this all to Power Slam magazine in 2006. The creative team turned his idea down but, wouldn't you know it, Hassan debuted just months later. Rhyno was a little miffed because he had done research in Detroit's sizeable Muslim community and felt that he knew the culture and could do the character well. Seeing how Hassan turned out, he's probably glad that he didn't get the gig in the end.
