As well as competing in many fine matches during his TNA tenure, Rhyno was also involved in one of the company's best ever angles. A year into his TNA run, Rhyno was contact by WWE about becoming a part of the resurrected ECW brand. WWE were trying to secure as many former ECW talents as they could for the show, even singing the likes of Sabu and Balls Mahoney to contracts. After a June 9th house show match with Jeff Jarrett in Philadelphia, Rhyno took to the mic and told the fans that he had turned down their offer and re-signed with TNA. It was a bold move by Rhyno. A lot of former ECW talents jumped at the chance to go and work for Vince but Rhyno was loyal to TNA, who had shown a lot of faith in him since his arrival. Rhyno went one further during a memorable backstage segment on the July 11th Impact. He was shown in the backstage area holding a burlap sack containing the ECW World Heavyweight Championship (WWE had threatened legal action if they showed the thing). Rhyno was the last person to hold the belt in the original ECW and had kept it in his possession all of those years. He placed the belt (actually a replica) into a trash can and set in on fire while tearing into WWE and praising TNA. WWE can't have been happy about this, as they were really pushing the ECW relaunch hard at the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOI7zlY6CsE
