Here's something else WWE definitely doesn't want you to think about.

Creative likely weren't going to change a damn thing before Roman himself pitched that memorable turn in the summer of 2020. Paul Heyman has gone on record to reveal that Reigns was sick of the way things had been going as a babyface since 2019, and he demanded freshness.

In short, WWE's writers lucked into the 'Tribal Chief' switch. That was 100% Roman. Keep in mind that the original plan for WrestleMania 36 had babyface Reigns vs. babyface champ Bill Goldberg. Yep, the company liked things exactly the way they were. They hadn't learned any lessons.

Things wouldn't have changed had Roman not flexed his power behind the curtain and pushed something new through. He's the one responsible for that heel run and the subsequent three years of brilliance. WWE management got lucky there.
