9. 'I'm Just A Guy Getting Rich'
Reigns has quite a history of speaking carelessly in out-of-character interviews, a tendency which will become a lot more clear in due course. For now, let's focus on perhaps the most high-profile of these linguistic faux-pas. Speaking on Sam Roberts' podcast shortly before the 2015 Royal Rumble (more on that event later), Reigns made the following statement regarding his detractors:
'The majority of critics, I would say, are people who have no clue what theyre talking about and have never been in a wrestling ring. Theyve never been a public speaker. They wouldn't even know how to lock up with me if I allowed them to. If I gave them the opportunity to lock up and tangle with me in the ring, they would have no clue what to do - so for them to critique or ever say anything about any performer is asinine'.
This rather defensive stance provoked an even worse response from many critics, particularly as the podcast went live after the events of the Rumble. His rather boastful remark of 'I'm just a guy getting rich', spoken during the very same interview, probably didn't help matters, either...
