10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Roman Reigns
8. His Brother Is Rosey
A lot is made of Reigns' blood ties to a particularly legendary ex-superstar (we'll get to that in just a sec), but as keen as WWE may be to highlight that particular link, a far closer wrestling relative has been completely passed over for the entirety of Roman's spell with the company. In 2002, Reigns' older brother Matt Anao'i debuted in WWE under the ring-name 'Rosey', as part of the 3-Minute Warning tag team (alongside Jamal, who would later morph into the Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga). Their gimmick centred around attacking unsuspecting non-wrestlers, including Lillian Garcia, and the retired duo of Mae Young and the Fabulous Moolah, at the behest of Raw GM Eric Bischoff. The following year, Jamal was released from his contract, and Rosey found a new tag partner in the form of The Hurricane. He took on Rosey as a comedic, bumbling sidekick, nicknamed the 'Super Hero In Training' (don't make me spell out that acronym for you). They won the World Tag Team Championship once - Rosey's only title reign during his WWE spell. Rosey was released to little fanfare soon after their breakup. It perhaps makes sense that WWE would be keen to play down Roman's link with Rosey, given the former's portrayal as a no-nonsense, ass-kicking machine. It probably wouldn't do Reigns any favours to suddenly reveal that his older bro was a poor man's Hamburglar.
