10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Rusev
7. The League Of Nations
The League Of Nations had potential as a group. Debuting in November 2015, it took four of WWE's more underused wrestlers in Alberto Del Rio, Wade Barrett, Sheamus, and Rusev and seemed to give them a sense of purpose. Unfortunately, they fell into derivative, anti-American nonsense soon after coming together, and WWE booked them like complete losers.
It quickly became apparent that the League Of Nations' sole purpose was to put Roman Reigns over. Sheamus had just become WWE Champion, so it would have been easy to turn them into a powerhouse group, but the company went in the opposite direction. The Irishman's reign ended after just 22 days, and the group's fortunes failed to recover.
Del Rio lost his Untied States Title soon after, and the League were eventually soundly defeated in a feud with The New Day. Rusev played a peripheral role throughout, and usually only filled in during listless tag matches, never really getting a chance to shine on his own. He and ADR eventually walked out on the group in April 2016, which effectively disbanded them.
Their run was short, but it'll forever be another black hole on Rusev's resume.
