10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About SummerSlam
9. Mean Gene Drops The F-Bomb
When it comes to non-wrestling wrestling personnel, Gene Okerlund is right up there with Jim Ross, Howard Finkel, and Mike Adamle as the cream of the crop.
The legendary announcer served as the voice of WWE for more than a decade during its golden era - calling many magical moments along the way - and was, deservedly, inducted into the company's Hall of Fame back in 2006. But there is one moment WWE might prefer that we forgot.
At SummerSlam 1989, Mean Gene was interviewing Rick Rude and Bobby Heenan backstage when the sign on the wall behind him unexpectedly fell down. He must have been used to the pitfalls of live television by then, but the usually unflappable Okerlund responded, uncharacteristically, by dropping the F Bomb. Oops.
