10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The New Day

5. Big E Buries The Writers

WWE's creative team are famously hit and miss, in that for every five lines they write, at least one hits.

The unfortunate thing about their sketchy record, however, is that it's not them who have to face the sound of crickets when one of their jokes fails to land in the middle of a live promo on Raw. Instead, it's the wrestlers themselves, who would probably be far more comfortable with their own material anyway.

Big E is perhaps one of the only wrestlers to have ever spoken out against this injustice in front of the WWE cameras. During a promo earlier this year, he followed one of those aforementioned jokes (namely, "we have to take the shine off the Shining Stars") by admitting, out loud, that he "didn't write that".

It's a pretty minor thing, all said, and it's likely that he escaped with just a stern talking to from one of the senior producers backstage. But wrestlers not named John Cena and Roman Reigns are seldom allowed to break the fourth wall, and WWE probably doesn't want anyone else getting ideas above their station.
