TNA's tactic of pushing any old WWE castoff as a major star became a meme a long time ago, but while the habit produces more duds than success stories, the company have struck gold on several occasions, with a number of ex-WWE stars becoming genuine driving forces for their new employers.

Christian stands as the most notable example. The popular Canadian was extremely successful in WWE, but was never pushed beyond the midcard, with Vince McMahon opting to promote Edge, his long-time tag partner, instead. Christian collected lower-tier belts all the time, but he was never going to break the glass ceiling, and he was forced to leave to reach his full potential.

Skill, charisma, a great look: Christian had everything WWE seek in a headliner, yet TNA were the first company to actually recognise his skill-set.

'Captain Charisma' was thrust into spotlight, immediately becoming one of the promotion's biggest stars, and an important main event figure throughout TNA's most exciting period. Two World Heavyweight Championship reigns followed, and while his eventual WWE return did result in a stronger push, he never became the lynchpin he was on Impact.
