10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Wade Barrett

4. Rotten King Of The Ring Run

The King of the Ring was once prestigious and helped to launch the careers of superstars, helping them break out of the midcard and break through the glass ceiling. Those days are clearly long gone, as the King of the RIng of recent years has been nothing more than a reason to fill up three hours of television time. In an odd coincidence the last three Kings have all been Europeans. 2008 saw the crowning of King Regal, who was stripped of his crowd and suspended for 60 days when he failed WWE's Wellness Policy for the second time. 2010 was King Shamus' year - and don't we all love to revisit that period in the Irishman's career? In 2015 it was Wade's turn. The first King of the Ring in five years. What an honou, huh? Well, not so much. King Barrett was a dud, despite Wade doing everything he could to get the gimmick over. It just didn't work, something Wade himself made reference to during an episode of WWE Network's Table For Three (he appeared with Sheamus and Regal). Barrett spent much of the summer of 2015 as Stardust's lacky and losing to the hopeless R-Truth. Something to forget, for sure.
