10 Things You Didn’t Know About Kurt Angle
8. Pay-Per-View Streak
It’s no secret that Kurt Angle had one of the greatest - if
not the greatest - rookie year in WWE
history.
Within just 11 months, he’d won the European, Intercontinental and WWE Championships, while he was also victorious at the 2000 King of the Ring tournament. But you can measure the success of his early days in terms of more than just his title wins; you can also measure it in terms of his pay-per-view record.
After making his televised in-ring debut at the 1999 Survivor Series, Angle went on to feature in 46 of the 47 PPVs that were staged between his debut and WrestleMania 19. And he’d probably have carried on going, had a neck injury not forced him to finally take a break.
The only show that he missed was the UK-based Insurrextion PPV from London, England in May 2002. Even then, that's because it was a Raw-exclusive show and Angle was a SmackDown talent.
Still, if we were to discount that PPV and only look at those that took place on US soil, Angle can say that he competed in 39 back-to-back American PPVs between his debut and WrestleMania 19.
Surely that’s some kind of WWE record?
