10 Things You Didn’t Know About WWE Night Of Champions
1. WCW Night Of Champions
So not to confuse it with the "Clash Of The Champions" branding should WCW eventually survive as an entity post-Vince McMahon purchase, WCW loaded up their last ever Nitro with title bouts and gave it the Night Of Champions moniker to make the Panama City show feel that little bit more special.
On the night, every major WCW title was put up for grabs, with Booker T becoming the unified World Heavyweight and United States Champion, Filthy Animals members Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman defeating Elix Skipper and Kid Romeo to become the second and final Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions, The Natural Born Thrillers defeating Team Canada to retain the World Tag Team titles, and 'Sugar' Shane Helms retaining his Cruiserweight Championship against Chavo Guerrero.
All the action ultimately wasn't enough to convince USA Network that a revived WCW made for a viable television wrestling product, but the show itself was a frustratingly enjoyable outing for numerous wrestlers constantly overlooked by the organisation during its protracted decay.
