10 Things You Didn't Know About AJ Lee

9. She Dropped Out Of College To Wrestle

In her excellent though exhaustingly titled book, 'Crazy is my Superpower: How I Triumphed by Breaking Hearts, Breaking Bones and Breaking all the Rules', AJ documents in excruciating detail the hardships her family faced as a child, and the daily struggle just to make ends meet. Knowing it was a route out of poverty, Lee was encouraged to take her academic studies seriously, and she did, often excelling in class.

After high school, Lee was accepted into New York University, where she read film and television production. With the household income entirely consumed by bills, Lee's friends graciously pitched in to help her apply. Unfortunately, despite receiving a scholarship, paying for higher education ultimately proved untenable. The system may have been broken in favour of the already-rich, but Lee, despite being forced to abandon her studies, saw it as an opportunity to follow a different childhood dream: wrestling. She promptly got a full time job, making sacrifices wherever she could in an indefatigable pursuit of success.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
