5. He Started Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling In 2000
What's often overlooked in his career is that Dusty actually started his own promotion called Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling that he ran from 2000 to 2003. The company was based out of Georgia where Dusty was a popular star, so he figured he might as well give his own company a try. The TCW roster was filled with a mix of talent ranging from older stars that Dusty worked with when he was actively wrestling to a mix of people that needed work after the deaths of ECW and WCW. Even though Dusty was in his 50s he would still wrestle from time to time as well. His TCW Heavyweight Champions were Glacier from WCW, Scotty Riggs from WCW/ECW, veteran Barry Windham who worked everywhere and of course Dustin Rhodes when he was on one his breaks from WWE. The company had some mild success leading to them branching out to Florida because Dusty was such a big name there, but they never really took off. The promotion died in 2003 when Dusty signed a deal to go work for TNA Wrestling.
