10 Things You Didn't Know About George "The Animal" Steele
2. He Wrestled A Match On WCW Monday Nitro
George Steele is mostly remembered as a WWE guy, and for good reason - he spent more than 20 years with the company. Of course, that doesn't mean he couldn't make an appearance with a competitor in his golden years. Look no further than the January 10, 2000 episode of WCW Monday Nitro, where Steele took on United States Champion Jeff Jarrett.
As part of his feud with commissioner Terry Funk, Jarrett was booked in three matches with old-timers, and as part of his feud with Chris Benoit, "The Crippler" was the referee. Steele was up first, taking on Jarrett in a non-title Bunkhouse Brawl. It wasn't much of a match, to be fair - it went just over a minute and Steele picked up the win thanks to some blatant interference. Still, it's a historical curiosity, as it represents his one and only WCW match.
Jarrett didn't fare much better later in the evening, losing to Tito Santana and Jimmy Snuka.
