It seems that Rick Rude's problems with his peers didn't stop with The Ultimate Warrior. Shoot interviews are obviously extremely biased, but they can provide captivating insight into what goes on backstage in major wrestling promotions. One such tidbit can be gleaned from a shoot with Lanny Poffo, who told of a confrontation in the locker room with Rude which left him embarrassed. Poffo was booked to oppose Hulk Hogan on an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event in late-1989. The match was designed to add further intrigue to the ongoing Hogan vs. Mr. Perfect feud. Given that Poffo, as 'The Genius', was Perfect's manager at the time, the bout made perfect sense. There was only one problem, Rick Rude didn't agree. Backstage, Rude loudly approached Poffo and told him in front of everyone watching that he didn't deserve such a spot on the card. Agreeing with his fellow wrestler, Lanny said he was only there because it made sense in storyline. Continuing, Rude decreed that Lanny was only employed because his brother was 'Macho Man' Randy Savage.
