3. Bubba Almost Got In A Backstage Fight With The Rock
In a shoot interview on Chris Jericho's podcast, Bubba revealed some of the Dudleys' running buddies during their initial WWE run. The pair were quick to integrate themselves with the top stars on the roster, eventually car-sharing with names as big as The Rock and Steve Austin. In the same interview, however, he revealed that things weren't always smooth sailing between the boys in the back. Following an influx of WCW talent during the Invasion angle, former Nitro girl Stacy Keibler was paired with the Dudleys as a heel valet. While preparing for a match against the Brahma Bull, Bubba put forward the idea that Keibler could grab the Rock's leg as he ran the ropes, allowing the Dudleys to get in some cheap offence and draw heel heat. Rocky, perhaps believing his own hype at such a wildly successful stage of his career, replied "That's a good spot - just not for The Rock." Bubba then reportedly got in the face of the unflappable main event star, who remained vaguely in character as he continued to insist that the spot wasn't good enough for him. He also apparently thought it would be better to attack Stacy in retaliation, a suggestion Bubba found ludicrous given Rock's status as a beloved babyface.
