10 Things You Didn't Know About Toni Storm
2. She Originally Tried Out For WWE In 2014 And 2015
It quickly became clear that Toni Storm was destined to sign with WWE after the standout performance she had in the 2017 Mae Young Classic, which was a long time coming after originally trying out for the company in 2014 and 2015 during WWE's tours of Australia and the United Kingdom.
Joining her at the Melbourne tryout in 2014 was fellow NXT UK star Travis Banks, and although she was impressive even then, it was in the years that followed that she developed into the star she is today.
Storm worked another tryout for WWE in November 2015, this time before a Raw taping in Manchester, England. Jodie Champagnie, Jessica Rose and Nina Samuels also tried out but none were hired... at least not until years later in the cases of Storm and Samuels.
Had WWE scooped her up then and signed her to a developmental deal, she very likely would not have broken out the way she did thanks to her success on the UK wrestling scene and time spent in Japan training.
The third time was the charm for Storm in 2017, with her remarkable run in the Mae Young Classic. The rest is history.
