10 Things You Didn’t Know About WCW Halloween Havoc
3. The Sandman Was In The Crowd At Halloween Havoc 1989
One of the most popular stars from the original Extreme Championship Wrestling was The Sandman. Often seen with a cigarette in his mouth and carrying his trademark Singapore Cane, Jim Fullington was also a big wrestling fan in general. ECW was perfect for the man, because it allowed him to do what he liked to do. Namely, The Sandman could drink before matches. During one shoot interview many years after the fact, Fullington revealed that he had attended several events in the Philadelphia area. Of course, this would become ECW's home turf, but it was also where the man soon-to-be-known as The Sandman lived. Incredibly, he bought a ticket for the first ever Halloween Havoc show in 1989, and was even shown on camera. It's difficult to ascertain exactly who Fullington is when looking at video footage of the event, but he claims he was there. There's no reason to lie about such a thing, and the guy even says he was dressed up as his favourite wrestler, Sting. At that point, Sting was bleach blonde, so it makes sense that Fullington would dress up as him.
