10 Things You Didn’t Know About WCW Halloween Havoc
4. Halloween Havoc '98 Featured Warrior's Only WCW Singles Match
It's pretty clear now that The Ultimate Warrior was only brought into WCW so he could return a favour to Hulk Hogan. As the leader of the nWo, Hogan was riding high as one of wrestling's top heels in 1998. His thought process was that fans would delight at seeing Warrior invade the company to challenge his dominance. What seemed fine in theory didn't translate in execution. At Halloween Havoc '98, Warrior faced Hollywood Hogan in a match considered one of the worst to ever take place at the event. The build-up to the bout had been loopy, to say the least. Not only did Warrior drone on about how it wasn't even that big a deal to beat Hulk, therefore negating the need for the match, he also appeared on Hogan's dressing room mirror. The entire story just wasn't cutting it. Incredibly, the Halloween Havoc debacle would be Warrior's only one-on-one confrontation in WCW history. In total, he wrestled 3 matches for the company. At Fall Brawl, he took part in the annual WarGames spectacular. Then, on an episode of Nitro, he teamed with Sting to face Hogan and Bret Hart. This means the Pay-Per-View match at Havoc was his lasting legacy in WCW.
