10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 1992

2. A TV Station Reported Bret Hart €œWon€ The WWF Title Days Before He Actually Won It

We all know the story of Bret Hart winning the WWF Title for the first time in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada in October 1992, beating Ric Flair in a Coliseum Home Video exclusive. What you may not know is that a Los Angeles-based television station reported Bret€™s title win days before it actually happened. At a house show in Los Angeles, CA on October 10, Bret Hart beat Ric Flair via disqualification when Ric Flair pushed the referee while in the Sharpshooter. The referee called for the bell, and because Flair was in the Sharpshooter, many in the crowd thought he had submitted. When Bret was announced the winner, it wasn€™t stated that he won via disqualification, which made things even more confusing. A local television outlet in LA then reported that Hart had won the championship. Two days later, Bret won the belt for real in Saskatoon. Did the TV station broadcast have anything to do with Bret€™s actual victory?
