10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 2003

8. The Return Of Mortis

Kanyon had a rough time of it in the WWE. There was no shortage of enthusiasm on his part, but he was doomed from the start. Kanyon, along with Diamond Dallas Page, was destroyed by Kane and The Undertaker at the beginning of the Invasion storyline and then Kanyon went down with an injury. In the interim he went to OVW to get match fitness. While competing there, he was injured again and pinned to the sidelines once more. He returned in early 2003 but spent most of his time wrestling on weekend show Velocity and working the odd dark match. He didn't always wrestle as Kanyon, however. He also dusted off his old WCW Mortis costume for some dark matches and house show appearances in the summer. Some speculated at the time that Mortis would be coming back as a full-time character on WWE TV but it never happened, despite WWE Magazine running a feature on him. Instead he had to settle for a couple of midcard house show losses to Matt Hardy. Who better than Kanyon? Not Mortis, apparently. Mortis Wwe
