10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 2007

2. WWE Planned Major Jackass Versus WWE Feud

Jackass and WWE. Seems like a natural partnership, doesn't it? WWE recently announced that they were teaming up with Jackass creator Jeff Tremaine for a WWE Network original series called Swerved. This is not the first time, however, that WWE and Jackass have been involved with one another. Chris Pontius and Steve-O showed up on the October 16th 2006 Raw. The Wildboyz ran into the Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga, who gave them a serious beat-down. Unfortunately, Steve-O didn't get the memo about selling Umaga's offence and began laughing at Pontius and trying to get up off the mat, so the big man made sure to go back and dish out a few more extra-stiff strikes to keep him down. It was an ugly episode, but not ugly enough to stop the two camps doing business together again in the Summer of 07. The cast of Jackass were supposed to resume their feud with Umaga. The posters were made and commercials filmed. It was originally planned that they would cost him his Intercontinental Championship match with Jeff Hardy at The Great American Bash by doing some sort of stunt, leading to a handicap hardcore match at SummerSlam. But, following the Benoit tragedy, the Jackass gang got cold feet and pulled out. Bam Margera was the first to drop out after he sustained an injury and then Johnny Knoxville said he didn't want to be involved because of the Benoit stuff. The whole thing, which had been orchestrated by Shane McMahon, fell apart. Incredibly, the booking called for the Jackass crew to go over Umaga at SummerSlam.
