10 Things You Need To Know About Past WWE Road To WrestleManias

9. The Rock Vs. Triple H Vs. The Big Show Vs. Chris Jericho?

Chris Jericho had a rough time of it when he first arrived in the WWF. After a memorable debut of verbal sparring with The Rock, things went downhill fast. Jericho's performances weren't up to snuff and, coming from rival WCW, he was already having a hard time fitting in in the back. According to his second autobiography Undisputed, he confronted Triple H and asked him what was up, to which The Game replied that Jericho had 'nuclear heat' with the boys because of perceived attitude issues. This pep talk motivated Jericho to step his game up and become the performer that the WWF expected him to be. There was a noticeable improvement in Y2J's performances in early 2000. Firstly, he carried Chyna to a couple of decent outings and then had great matches with the still-green Kurt Angle. Plus, his interviews were showing a marked improvement and he was getting over massively as a face. It was not so surprisingly, then, that in the abscence of top stars like Steve Austin and The Undertaker, Jericho would be chosen as one of the four participants in the fatal four way main event of WrestleMania 2000. The original plan for that match saw Jericho take on WWF Champion Triple H, The Rock and The Big Show. The WWF even printed posters and other promotional materials with Jericho's face on before it decided to bring back the recently retired Mick Foley for the gig instead. Jericho ended up wrestling Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle on the undercard that year but being taken out of the 'Mania main event only fired him up to work harder in the future.
