10 Things You Need To Know About Perro Aguayo Jr

7. He Formed His Own Promotion

Perros Del Mal Logo1 Unfortunately, as hot as Los Perros del Mal and CMLL were for a time, it unfortunately wouldn't last. The company experienced a downturn in business in the late 2000s. During that time the company were teasing a feud between Aguayo and lead tecnico Mestico (the future Sin Cara). Every time the two squared off, it was magic. The belief was that the two were heading for a Mask Vs. Hair match sometime in the near future but it never happened. CMLL's belief was that you don't put on a match of that caliber during a period where business is down and, thus, it never happened. Because of the declining business Aguayo went off and formed his own promotion. He used the name of his popular stable Perros Del Mal for it. The original plan was for Aguayo to use both CMLL and independent wrestlers while he would also work select dates for CMLL but the two parties had a falling out in late 2008. So Aguayo and the rest of his Perros Del Mal stablemates formed the promotion completely independent of CMLL. It was a bold move, with CMLL clearly not happy about it and offering counter-programming in Mexico City the night of the group's first show, which was held on Sunday, December 7th 2008. Perros Del Mal did not have a regular, contracted roster but instead paid talent on a 'per event' basis. The stable of the same name was, of course, heavily featured. The shows were a mixed bag and Perro Aguayo Jr. often resorted to shameless promotional tactics, such as in 2011 when he faked having cancer.
