10 Thrown Together WWE Tag Teams That Totally Saved Careers

5. The Revival

The Revival did for Scott Dawson what American Alpha managed for Jason Jordan.

Dawson was signed to a WWE developmental contract way back in 2012, and for a couple of years The Mechanic did approximately nothing of note. Dawson's NXT debut saw him team with Judas Devlin in a losing handicap effort against Adrian Neville, and if you can remember that you are a more hardcore NXT fan than I.

Dawson bounced around tag teams in NXT for a short while, teaming with Garrett Dylan (nope, me neither) and Rusev. His partnership with the Bulgarian Brute ended when Lana showed up, and a serious injury subsequently put Dawson on the shelf for a number of months.

Enter Dash Wilder.

Upon returning from injury, Dawson was immediately placed in a tag team with him. Much like Jordan & Gable, the two had a chemistry that simply can't be taught. They lost to Mojo Rawley & Bull Dempsey in their first NXT match, but before long it was clear that The Mechanics had a bright future.

The Mechanics eventually became The Revival, and it is difficult to envisage the tag team future of WWE without Dash & Dawson at the centre of it.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
