10 Times Brock Lesnar Won On His First Attempt

4. NJPW And IWGP Championship Match

Lesnar’s post-WrestleMania XX life didn’t quite go to plan at first, as he fell short on a dream run in the NFL with the Vikings, but it wouldn’t take long for the Minnesota native to find success once again. This time, back in the ring.

In his first match - yes that’s right, his very FIRST match - in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Lesnar won the company’s top title, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, in a three-way match with Kazuyuki Fujita and Masahiro Chono.

He became just the fifth non-Japanese wrestler to win the belt.

The love affair with Japan wouldn’t last for Lesnar but it was his first steps back in a wrestling ring, despite the WWE’s best efforts to bar him from competing anywhere outside of their promotion.

It took Kenny Omega years to finally get his hands on one of wrestling’s most highly esteemed championship as a foreigner. It took Brock Lesnar one match.
