10 Times CM Punk Disrespected WWE

7. Is A Bad App Ruining Your Business?

Punk and Seth Rollins had a bit of a back and forth in late 2019, with the then-floundering WWE Universal Champion attempting to start a feud with Punk via Twitter. Punk’s response? He advised Rollins to delete his Twitter. This is absolutely the correct advice, as everyone should delete their Twitter. That miserable app should be for complaining about corporations and Big E. gifs only.

If anyone knows how addictive passive-aggressive tweeting can be, it is CM Punk. The Voice of the Voiceless has landed himself in hot water on a number of occasions by throwing 140 characters together and pressing ‘tweet’. Punk has never been shy when it came to pointing out the errors of WWE via social media, even when he was still signed to the company.

One such controversy happened in late 2013, as Punk moved ever closer to leaving. WWE was pushing its app but said app was going through some teething problems, although that might be being kind. Punk decided that the time was right to tweet a photo of an advert with the absolutely coincidental for sure phrase ‘Is a bad app ruining your business?’ emblazoned front and centre.

Not an earth-shatterer, obviously, but considering the time and effort WWE was putting into pushing the app it was a bit of a low-blow. Just over a month later, Punk was gone.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
