10 Times John Cena Silenced His Critics

At the time, neither Cena nor Lashley were known for putting on great matches, and for smark fans this one was something of a manufactured feud, fought between two vanilla wrestlers WWE were hell-bent on pushing to the main event. They had a point: Lashley became the number one contender after winning a Beat the Clock challenge, fresh from a long and forgettable reign as ECW Champion.

To the surprise of many, the match itself was far better than the feud that preceded it deserved. Lashley famously had a hard time getting over with the audience - not even being made the antagonist of Vince McMahon could do the trick - but the closest he came was when he took super Cena to the limit, put away only by an FU from the top turnbuckle.
