10 Times John Cena Silenced His Critics
5. Vs. Edge (Unforgiven 2006)
Edgeheads won't let us forget that their hero was one of the early victims of Cena's infamous supeman run during WWE's drab mid 2000s era. Long over-due though they were, his first two WWE title reigns were both were cut short in pay-per-view singles matches against the company's go-to guy, the second of which was at Unforgiven 2006 - in the Rated-R Superstar's specialty match, no less.
While you can complain about the outcome, the match was a rare moment of quality in one of WWE's worst years of the modern era. Cena and Edge have always had great chemistry in the ring, but the crazy bumps they took in the name of entertainment was one of the first times Cena truly earned the (grudging) respect of the hardcore audience.
