10 Times The Independent Scene Met The WWE Machine

1. Daniel Bryan Vs. Triple H - WrestleMania XXX

Daniel Bryan has had a whole host of fantastic matches against men to have grown up in the mainstream machine.

His bout with John Cena at SummerSlam 2013 was an absolute classic, and most of the matches that came after it against Randy Orton were up there too. Throw in a whole host of TV and PPV matches against men like The Miz, Bray Wyatt, Kane and others and you give yourself a lot to choose from.

Interestingly enough, however, I'm going to go with his show-opening match against Triple H at WrestleMania XXX. The 30th WrestleMania came with huge excitement, and after months of being screwed over there was a feeling that it could very well be Bryan's night. In order to get the main event against Orton and Batista, Bryan had to go through the other member of Evolution.

There haven't been many better show openers than this in history. Bryan did was Bryan did, which was put on the best professional wrestling matches of his generation against a variety of opponents. Triple H more than stepped up to the plate however, showing once and for all that he is still an elite worker in his advanced years.

He's also a company man, and Bryan put down the head of The Authority with the Knee Plus.

In many ways, Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H was the most independent scene vs. WWE machine match imaginable.

Bryan, the man who most considered too small but worked his way up to the top through small packages and hour-long technical masterpieces in high school gyms. Hunter, the man who is literally going to take over the company.

It was a beautiful match, and the only true option to headline this fantasy show.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
