The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania, to some extent, was always going to be about nostalgia. It simply wouldn't have made sense to celebrate anything else other than the past that got it there. And yet there was still a hope that the new and current generation of stars would stake their claims to that legacy.

Something magical happened that night. The past wasn't some ghoulishly nostalgic figure looming over the modern day programming, it was alive and well in that ring as the two greatest performers in the history of the company proved why we were celebrating the past in the first place.

Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker have always had electric chemistry in the ring, but even their exceptional wars of yesteryear (or yesterdecade) couldn't have prepared us for the majesty that unfolded at WrestleMania 25. A masterclass of drama, physical storytelling and the best damn wrestling you'll ever see in a WWE ring, these two 44-year-old legends schooled us all on why the past was so important, outperforming every other young performer on the card that night (and indeed the entire decade).

WrestleMania 25 was always going to be about the past. But on that night, 'Taker and Michaels ensured the past was more current than the present.
