For his return from injury in May, 2000, The Undertaker slipped into an altogether new skin. Gone were the supernatural and even demonic aspects of his character, 'Taker was now a bad-!*$% biker who even had a very-real personal life away from the ring. The persona was more open than ever before.

This lasted up until the Survivor Series 2003 pay-per-view, a show on which Undertaker was defeated by Vince McMahon in a Buried Alive battle. This was the perfect opportunity to go back to the roots of the character, which is exactly what Mark Calaway chose to do come WrestleMania XX.

On that event, The Undertaker returned under the guise of 'The Deadman', creating an incredibly memorable moment. His match against Kane wasn't exactly the most technical, but it served its purpose. Undertaker's return to the darker side of the character was what fans wanted to see, so it was a smart move to make.
