10 Times WCW Purposefully Lied To The Fans

1. Goldberg And Kevin Nash Are Having A Rematch? No!

Enough has been written about the Fingerpoke of Doom that we all know how irreparably destructive it was to WCW -- still, from time to time, people look back and say things like "It wasn't such a bad angle" or "Consolidating the nWo as a single heel group made sense." Those sentiments may be true. They may not be, as the entire main event of StarrCade was sacrificed to put Hulk Hogan over, but they may be true. The real kicker came from the fact that it was the ultimate bait and switch, and WCW's biggest lie of all time. On December 27, 1998, Kevin Nash beat Goldberg to end his undefeated streak and win the WCW title, inadvertently capitalizing on interference from Scott Hall. The next night on Nitro, Nash honorably offered Goldberg a rematch. When the following week's broadcast rolled around, however, the match was quickly scrapped, much to the chagrin of the last large Georgia Dome crowd WCW would ever draw. Goldberg was arrested for stalking Miss Elizabeth, Hogan -- appearing on Nitro to promote his campaign for the U.S. Presidency -- took his place, and the dirty deed was done (for those who didn't see it, Nash laid down for Hogan after a fingerpoke, Hogan won the title, and the entire nWo celebrated). WCW intentionally lied to their fans, and they lost a lot of them that night.
