2. Ric Flair Is Having A Heart Attack? No!
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2v2jt_ric-flair-gets-a-heart-attack-on-ni_sport Injury angles are a part of pro wrestling -- and sadly, so are serious, life-altering injuries. Faking a grave injury for the sake of a storyline tends to be a sign that bookers are running out of ideas, getting desperate, and breaking the boundaries of human decency. Of course, this is WCW we're talking about, so that's all just par for the course. Upon Ric Flair's return to WCW in the fall of 1998 following a legal dispute with the company, real life carried over into storyline, and "The Nature Boy" began feuding with WCW President Eric Bischoff. As silly as the idea may sound, Bischoff can hold his own with anybody as a character, and Flair is Flair, so the crowd was hot -- so hot, in fact, that a Flair interview on Nitro, which ended with "The Nature Boy" falling in the ring (not in the funny way he usually did) and seemingly losing consciousness drew legitimate concern from fans and not-clued-in fellow wrestlers, some of whom were reportedly in tears backstage out of concern for a man they so greatly admired. Soon after, WCW said the fall was a result of an inner ear problem, but it was all an angle and the damage was done -- as much as fans like to be taken for a ride, we don't like to seriously worry about the health of our heroes. What was an attempt by WCW to get sympathy for Flair ended up disgusting scared viewers, and nothing more.
