The Renegade, and WCW's handling of the character could easily be two separate items on this list. Firstly, his introduction was one of the most disappointing debuts in wrestling history. As Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage were feuding with The Dungeon of Doom, Hogan teased "The Ultimate Surprise" accompanied with a silhouette of a man with long hair and tassels (the implication obviously being Ultimate Warrior). The idea of the three biggest stars of the eighties teaming up as a stable was extremely exciting to fans at the time, and when it turned out to be The Renegade, it was a huge disappointment. Secondly, many people criticise WCW for putting too much pressure on the young wrestler's shoulders. He was expected to live up to the legacy of one of the most iconic performers in the history of wrestling, and when he inevitably couldn't measure up, he was cast aside by WCW. He was released by WCW sometime shortly after his last match on December 7, and just over two months later he committed suicide.
