6. Virgil Joins The NWO
Once again, this isn't just about Virgil joining the nWo, but his membership is the earliest and most obvious example of how unwieldy nWo membership would quickly become. In the beginning there was Hall and Nash, then Hogan, followed by DiBiase, The Giant and Syxx. All of those make sense, you can rationalise why that character would want to join nWo, and why in turn, the stable would want them to join... but Virgil?! The name Virgil came about as a rib on Virgil "Dusty Rhodes" Runnels, so when he jumped over to WCW, he became Vincent as a shot back towards McMahon. His arrival as the nWo's Head of Security opened the floodgates for anyone and everyone to don the black and white, as he was followed by Eric Bischoff, Buff Bagwell, Michael Wallstreet (IRS), Big Bubba Rogers (Big Boss Man) and Scott Norton. The nWo only got crazier and more bloated from there, as they split into nWo Hollywood, nWo Wolfpac. They later reformed in the wake of the Fingerpoke of Doom, with a B-Team like something out of nineties X-Men comics. By the time nWo 2000 comes into play, it's best to just give up trying to keep track of it because they'd successfully ran the coolest thing to happen to wrestling in an age completely into the ground.
