10 Times Wrestlers Ate Thumbtacks

4. Ric Flair (2006)

Ric Flair has always held an air of needing to prove himself as he grows older. In numerous interviews, the 'Nature Boy' has claimed he can still work with the best of them, and is willing to do so should WWE give the word. A decade ago in 2006, his mindset was exactly the same.

Facing Mick Foley in an 'I Quit' battle at SummerSlam, Flair put himself through hell in order to entertain. Shortcuts were necessary, given the fact that both were less mobile than they had once been. The match was enjoyable, but also incredible due to the willingness of Flair to take a slam onto thumbtacks.

In the introduction to this piece, it was said that Mick Foley insisted the pins weren't so bad if a wrestler landed properly on his back. Flair didn't do that, he took most of the fall directly onto his right arm and shoulder.

The pain must have been searing through his body as soon as he landed, because sharp tacks don't discriminate between arm or back. At this point in his career, Flair didn't need to take such a bump.

Amazing, Flair had taken another thumbtack bump a month before when he challenged Big Show in ECW.
