10 Times Wrestlers Ate Thumbtacks

3. Edge (WWE WrestleMania 22)

Those analysing this list will quickly realise that Mick Foley takes centre stage throughout, certainly as the bumps grow more notable. Thumbtacks have been a hallmark of many famous battles Foley has had in the WWF/WWE, he can be thanked (or blamed, depending on your point of view) for popularising their use in the promotion.

At WrestleMania 22, the veteran had something to prove when facing Edge. A Hardcore Match in the middle of the card provided the chance to steal the show, and that's something the pair achieved together. A memorable bump onto a flaming table was the main highlight, but not the only one.

Before then, Edge soaked up a Backdrop onto the tacks. There seemed to be thousands littering the ring, meaning they didn't only pierce his upper back. Even Foley, falling away from the danger zone, had a few lodged in his flannel shirt.

Sitting up instantly, Edge clearly didn't want to lay on the mat in agony as the metallic weapons tore him to pieces. That was a smart move, and the sequence looked suitably dramatic.
