10 Times Wrestlers Bled The Hard Way In The PG-Era
9. Christian - TLC 2009
https://youtu.be/Xvc3VhQZa-8?t=411 Just two months later, it happened again. You can't have your cake and eat it too, and if you're still going to put on matches with hardcore stipulations, in this case a ladder match for the ECW title, you're going to have accidents. After dumping challenger Shelton Benjamin to the outside, champion Christian picked up a ladder and held it over his head. Benjamin pulled his legs and the ladder came crashing down on Captain Charisma's noggin. Cue blood. Again, the match was briefly halted as the ringside doctor attended to the cut. The crowd began to turn, and protracted boos started to rumble around the arena. Credit to Shelton Benjamin for trying to keep the crowd onside with his heel antics, but WWE knew that, in future, it would face a problem with its PG principles. Either kill a match's momentum and risk losing the crowd or, as Matt Striker took pains to point out to the viewers watching at home, go against the strict demands of the State Athletic Commissions.
