10 Times Wrestlers Brought Old Gimmicks Back (For One Night Only)
4. "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal (ALL IN)
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and probably no wrestler in history was more flattered than the Macho Man Randy Savage. One of the more famous tributes to Savage's unique style was Jay Lethal's Black Machismo gimmick, which came about purely because Lethal could do a great "Oooo yeah!".
Mainly performed in TNA/Impact Wrestling from 2006, Black Machismo brought the indy darling mainstream attention and championship success, winning the company's X Division Championship multiple times and the tag team championship with the equally flamboyant Consequences Creed (the future Xavier Woods). He would continue using the gimmick throughout his TNA run and the ill-fated Immortal/Fortune feud, until returning to Ring of Honor in 2011 though he would bring the character occasionally for smaller independent shows.
When Cody Rhodes announced All In, the biggest show outside of WWE since WCW's closure, multiple big names, indy and mainstream were announced to take part with Jay Lethal being one of them. With Savage's brother Lanny Poffo at his side, Lethal brought back Black Machismo one more time to defend the ROH World Championship against Flip Gordon, with the Macho Man's loving tribute act retaining the gold.
