10 Times Wrestlers Called Out Their Own BS

3. Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins being boring

Seth Rollins got himself in rather a lot of silly bother last year.

Tired of WWE's plummeting reputation among the wrestling fandom, he, as Universal Champion, felt duty-bound to protect his realm. He said WWE was the best pro wrestling on the planet. Period. He then doubled-down, dawg - his words, not your writer's, which actually explains how he couldn't tell that the scripted promos were such dog sh*t - and called Will Ospreay, who'd waded in, a "little guy". Ospreay is more hench than Rollins, and certainly Ricochet, whom Rollins had claimed was a "better version" of the NJPW standout.

This was all a PR disaster brought on himself for the "greater good" of getting WWE over. It didn't get WWE over, and in fact buried him so much that, in conjunction with his terrible pissy-pants booking, he had no choice but to go heel.

Rollins was hardly going to turn around and say "Aye lads, you're right, WWE is sh*te - a mallet is bigger than a sledgehammer lmao" - but he did have the decency to take back his bank account bragging bullsh*t. He said it wasn't in line with his own values, and that he was too stubborn for his own good.

So Rollins is deluded, but not an a*sehole.
