10 Times Wrestlers No-Sold Killer Moves
4. Hawk No-Sells A Chokeslam AND A Five-Star Frog Splash
According to the dirt sheets, WWE was planning to bring back Hawk and Animal of the Legion of Doom on a full-time basis in 2003. However, after this performance, Vince McMahon immediately put the kibosh on those plans.
On the May 12, 2003 episode of RAW, Eric Bischoff surprisingly brought back L.O.D. to challenge World Tag Team Champions Rob Van Dam and Kane for the straps. The legendary tag team received a monumental pop upon their entry, but much like many of their matches, the enthusiasm would not last long.
The end of the bout saw Kane deliver a Chokeslam to Hawk, which he did not react to in the slightest. This was immediately followed by a Five-Star Frog Splash from RVD, which again, he did not react to. After being pinned, Hawk promptly began making his way back to his feet, eventually walking out of the ring by his own volition before RVD (who'd just scored the pinfall) could stand up without assistance from the ropes.
As previously mentioned, L.O.D. was widely known for doing this sort of thing during matches, but this particular no-sell was perhaps most significant in that it cost Hawk a job in an industry that had largely blacklisted him due to his substance abuse issues and his less-than-stellar backstage reputation. Unfortunately, this would be Hawk's final appearance for the company, as he'd succumb to a heart attack just five months later at the age of 46.
