The drama which followed the now infamous Montreal Screwjob is well publicised, especially as it went a long way in creating the evil Mr. McMahon character who became a staple of WWE programming throughout the Attitude Era and into the present day. However, the shadiness of how it all went down enraged fans, and the WWE had to be kicking themselves over the fact that it took place in Bret Hart's home country of Canada! Of course, the Canadian fans at the time were perhaps more interested in tearing the arena apart than they were getting their money back, but they would if they could have! Still, at least Bret got his very real revenge backstage by knocking out Vince McMahon...
