9. Christian Loses World Title - Capitol Punishment 2011
Following Edge's unexpected and sudden retirement from the WWE, they were left without one of their top superstars, and fans were left mourning for a career cut short far too soon. Almost as a way of appeasing the WWE Universe, Christian finally secured his first world title after defeating Alberto del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, he would lose the belt just FIVE days later. What followed was an admittedly thrilling feud which saw both Christian and Randy Orton deliver some of their best matches, but the former was treated appallingly as a whole, winning the belt back only as part of a ridiculous stipulation which saw Orton lose as a result of a disqualification finish. The real low point came during Capitol Punishment. The referee counted to three despite the fact that Christian had his foot under the bottom rope, a peculiar decision given the fact that he was supposed to be the heel at the time (also odd was the face Orton hitting him with the title belt after the match even if it was considered to be "revenge"). It was ultimately just a shame to see Christian treated this way, especially as it looked like Edge's sad departure was going to have a plus side in the sense that would give his best friend the chance to step up and be a great champion. He never got the chance!
