The Undertaker dispatched of his manager Paul Bearer in a unique and savage spot, throwing a fireball into his face.
BLACKMAIL!
Bearer was unwilling to let his charge go. He alluded to Undertaker’s biggest secret, which he would reveal if ‘The Deadman’ did not re-join him. Bearer’s teasing and the secret garnered fan interest and revitalised both men’s characters. Bearer’s cryptic calls for Undertaker to “remember the fire” fuelled fan theories.
ARSON!
After tension between both men, Bearer carried out his threat. He took fans back to a funeral home on a hill, owned by a family who lived upstairs, The Undertaker, his parents, and younger brother Kane. One evening the funeral home was set ablaze at Undertaker’s hands. His family perished in the fire. ‘The Deadman’ claimed Kane started the fire. The blame he carried was Kane being his responsibility.
FAMILY REUNION!
Bearer continued his mind games claiming that Kane was still alive, though he was disfigured and charred. He warned Undertaker his little brother was coming for him. Kane made his move, interfering in The Undertaker and Shawn Michael’s Hell in a Cell match, ripping the cage door off its hinges, to brutalise his brother.
