In the middle of divorce proceedings, Vince McMahon learned his wife, Linda, had suffered a “major nervous breakdown”. He laughed at the news; however, he claimed his reaction was misinterpreted and quickly passed the blame to his wife’s fragility.

FALSE IMPRISONMENT!

Vince had Linda committed to a private sanatorium, where she was heavily medicated. He boasted that he had 100% control of everything they jointly owned, and not the 50% he would have been left with post-divorce. He then proceeded to flaunt his “special friend” Trish Stratus in front of his ex-wife. Sympathy for Linda made her a surprisingly engaging babyface.

HUMILIATION!

Vince continued to rile fans with his aggressive misogyny, this time with Trish as his target. Vince tired of his “toy”, infamously making Trish crawl around and bark like a dog. She began her revenge going behind Vince’s back to stop Linda’s doctors from medicating her.

FAMILY AT WAR!

Vince wheeled Linda to ringside for his WrestleMania Street Fight against their son Shane. He propped a seemingly comatose Linda on a steel chair in the corner of the ring. During the clash, Linda rose from her chair to kick Vince in the “McMahon family jewels”. Shane hit his first ever Coast-to-Coast for the win. A satisfying climax to the rather grim storyline.
