10 Times Wrestling Was The Best Soap Opera Ever
3. Kurt Angle/Stephanie McMahon/Triple H
Stephanie McMahon’s “Loving husband” Triple H vs. her “good friend” Kurt Angle was a highlight of the Attitude Era’s twilight. A typical soap opera love triangle storyline elevated by the three performers.
ADULTERY?
Triple H was caught in a compromising position while teaching Trish Stratus wrestling holds. Stephanie was still processing her anger when Angle saved her from The Dudley’s table. In a celebratory hug with Angle she found herself in an equally compromising position wrapping her legs around Kurt.
JUST GOOD FRIENDS?
Stephanie and Kurt doubled down on the “just good friends” line. However, when Stephanie was inadvertently knocked unconscious, Kurt planted a lip lock on her while she was still dazed. He continued to pursue Stephanie, resorting to a montage of the numerous times Triple H had accidently struck his wife. After taking a sledgehammer to Triple H, Kurt caught Stephanie’s hand mid-slap and kissed her to the mat. Fans and the locker room alike were no longer uncertain of Kurt’s intensions.
THE ULTIMATUM!
At Unforgiven 2000, Triple H forced Stephanie to make a choice. She answered by kicking Kurt in the crotch. However, Stephanie continued her professional relationship with Angle, managing him to his first WWF Championship at No Mercy.
