10 Times WWE Accidentally Brought Awful Gimmicks Back From The Dead

"Let the past die. Kill it, if you have to. It's the only way you'll be free"

Karrion Kross is having a rough time of it these days.

Shorn of his NXT title, separated from his wildly popular valet and suffering the most underwhelming debut in recent history, Karrion Kross' main roster career already resembles the rapidly-decaying flesh of his namesake.

To add insult to mortal injury, Kross debuted a new look on RAW this past Monday that immediately drew comparisons to Sean Connery's NSFW outfit in sci-fi action flop Zardoz, as well as the failed gimmicks of wrestlers past.

It's the latter part of that sentence this article will be focusing on. If the definition of insanity really is doing the same thing again and expecting different results, WWE has proven itself to be as crazy as the idea that CM Punk's AEW debut was a "total miss".

Like that one roommate who insists that expired food will be fine if you blast it in the microwave, WWE has a habit of reheating gimmicks that should have been left to rot in a bin. The unfortunate Mr. Kross is just the latest in a long line of culinary abortions to emerge from WWE's increasingly ramshackle kitchen...

10. Lilly & Rocco

Depending on merch sales, Alexa Bliss' demon doll may not be long for this world. Even if Lilly is fated to depart from our TV screens, her creators can be proud of one thing - she's already lasted longer than the infamous Rocco.

For those who don't know, Rocco was a ventriloquist's doll that the legendary Legion of Doom found themselves lumbered with in 1992. In what was supposedly an attempt to make the Legion more marketable to younger fans, the intimidating duo was forced to drag Rocco with them to the ring as he was a "reminder of their roots".

Apparently, the Legion used to beat the crap out of Rocco when they were children, and this somehow played an important role in their decision to become post-apocalyptic outlaws. (WWE left its fans to fill in the blanks of the story).

Lilly definitely hasn't reached Rocco's level of infamy among wrestling fans, but it's likely both will be enshrined in the WrestleCrap Hall of Fame in the none-too-distant future.
